The coronavirus pandemic is vastly changing the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. One big change, there will be no in-person audience. Normally, there are 3.5 million people along the 2 ½ mile route.
Broadway performances will be pre-recorded; the giant balloons will only float down one block and be pulled by utility vehicles instead of humans. Between 8,000 and 10,000 people usually work the parade, this year there will only be 1,500.
