When you go to an event you normally sit with the people you already know. Next time you should find the table where you know absolutely nobody and start a conversation. When you sit with individuals that you are already familiar with you aren’t gaining anything, networking with people you know is pointless.
Once leave your immediate circle, that is when you begin to make more connections and where you can access more opportunities. If you simply stick to the same group of people to surround yourself with then you will never be able to learn new things and your social skills will ultimately suffer. Magic happens outside your comfort zone.
